... an update

our Bible distribution to the Lake Charles, LA Civic Center Hurricane Katrina Evacuees went extremely well!
The people were so calm and quiet! God's Peace was in the place... we were in AWE, nothing like what we expected!
The Red cross would not let us hand out the Bibles,
(the first lady I spoke to was quite rude about it) we could only set them up so people could come and get them...The Red Cross is nondenominational.. so I say "So am I" she says "YOU CAN NOT HAND out Bibles in a RED Cross Shelter!" ... I was in shock.
I told Jade, "I do not have to answer to these people, I have to answer to God, we may just do it anyway"...
So I ask the lady... "can I hand them out outside?" She says, "not supposed to" and gestered it would be OK.
I wanted to shout it out.. BIBLES, BIBLES, God has sent you Bibles... but I did not. Nor was I defiant, God kept me calm

I stood and looked and prayed for a while, waiting on the LORD... "What to do Lord?"
I was concerned that people would come take these Bibles ( some high dollar) and sell them.
I then asked someone else... the head lady of the Red Cross Command Center...
(who happened to be going to the Sunday AM worship service they were holding in the Am there at the Civic center) if she knew who would be leading the services, if I could contact them and if they could actually hand them out. She gave me a strange look and asked how many I had, then told me if I was uncomfortable setting them all out to bring them to her and she would get them to the worship service but she couls not hand them out.
By now I was really waiting on God... " Lord this is not how it is supposed to be... Do something Lord"
LOL God is wonderful to me and patient too !!!

So Jade and I go outside and start getting the cases of Bibles out the car... immediately a girl from the crosswalk above us says... " Can I have a Bible?"

OH JOY!!!

"Sure" I say... others followed her downstairs and they each picked a special Bible they wanted.
The sweet girl, a teenager picked a Teen Revolve magazine, her little sister age 9 picked a Kid's Hermie Bible and thier Mom picked a giant print Bible !
I was so thrilled !!!
As we were getting more boxes out I looked around and there were about 20-25 kids playing football a couple hundred yards from us... so I say to Jade, "ya wanta go see if they want Bibles?" she says "YES! "
Immediately I hesitated... did the Spirit say No ( Or was I being a great Big Chicken, not sure which ??) so I look and pray again "What to do Lord?, I am waiting on you to move"
Another young girl walks by and says OH, can I have a Bible, she gets a paperback Bible and smiles, thumbing through it as she walks
Waited a little while longer to see if God would send someone else ... There were a lot of people all around us ... no one was paying attention or showed any interest... so I just waited a while.
Suddenly I tell Jade, we are gonna put these Bibles out for all... some may not want to go to a worship service, some may just want to hear straight from God in His WORD. She beams and says yes!
I then felt much better
So we go inside to set them up and immediately people came!
We did not even have them out of the Boxes and people were asking for them WOO HOO

I will tell ya'll some more individual stories soon.. for now here are some pics!!!

Here is a lady and her absolutely adorable daughter, and I think the little boy is her nephew.
The little boy immediately picked up a kids book about God I had got from Connie some time back...
The lady got a Giant print bonded leather NKJV Bible, she was thrilled! She was in very good spirits along with all that came by ! I expected tears , but there were none. God is already in this place!!! All is calm, there is peace... absolutely amazing to both Jade and I !!! No more fear about the kids coming to her school, nor for going to other shelters when God leads us to go!

Samuel doing his part ( right after he got a hold of a black dry erase marker LOL, he has it all over his hands! He did not get to the Bibles, whew... just our well waxed coffee table,... came right off

Over 400 Bibles went out, instead of 300... I just kept adding! It was so much fun
God provided all these Bibles...plus more than you see in the pics!
