The aprons are authentic and unique. They may be worn, they may be used as a decoration, but what is of utmost importance is the ethnographic and historic value, which presupposes collector’s interest towards them.
I begin my description with some historical data, so that you may sense and feel the spirit of the national costume and of the people for whom it used to be a daily dressing. Once, a French traveler exclaimed: „The national costume of the Bulgarians is remarkable!” And I shall never forget an elderly Englishman who could not take his eyes off from the Bulgarian national costumes which were shown and who repeated with admiration: „What a beauty! Perfection!...”.The apron are the part of national costime. And if today these aprons are mainly museum exponents, in the 19th century, in the period of Renaissance, they were in their bloom. We can still find them in villages and small towns, carefully put away in many-coloured chests and cupboards, handed down as a relic from mother to daughter, from grandmother to granddaughter.
The apron in the female dressing has a unifying role. In the past it was part of the dressing and it had a functional application and gradually it became a decoration element. In the crimson combinations of the apron each region from the country has revealed its beauty ideal. I offer a set of 4 aprons – 15
