
In this auction, you have the chance to bid on a nice lot of five (5) issues of Marvel Comics' Journey Into Mystery - featuring Thor!
#97 - October 1963's "Lava Man!" displays moderate toning, a 1/4" tear on the outer edge, plus light creasing. The spine is still strong, but has stress lines and light staple tears. The back cover is also toned and shows a few shallow cracks. The interior is crisp, clean an intact, but shows toning, and a small (1/4") area of discoloration on the top of one page.
#98 - November 1963's "The Human Cobra!" is well-toned, has moderate wrinkling and a few shallow corner folds. The spine is still decent, but is lightly cracked and split 1/2" between the staples (which also have some small tears). The back also shows toning and a has a few 1/8" edge tears. The interior is intact, but is toned and has a handful of corner folds.
#99 - December 1963's "The Mysterious Mister Hyde!" has a few unobtrusive edge tape repairs (plus tape on all four front cover corners -likely for support, not repair),plus light toning. The spine also has a few areas of tape, but again, they appear to be for support. The back cover is also toned, shows faint foxing and has a 1/6" spot of blue discoloration. The interior is intact, shows toning, and edge ding at the bottom, and just a hint of residue from the cover tape.
#100 - January 1964's "Showdown with Mr. Hyde!" is a nice issue, with a upple cover showing a few light creases and wrinkles, a corner fold and a few tiny edge chips. There is toning as well. The spine is in good shape,with a few cracks and small staple tears. The back cover also shows toning, light foxing and a 1/8" edge chip.
#101 - February 1964's "Zarrko, The Man of Tomorrow!" displays tape on the front corners (for support, probably not repair) plus a few unobtrusive tape repairs along the top edge. The spine is strong, and the back shows toning, and a few areas of faint surface discoloration. The interior is clean, crisp and intact, with only light toning and the occasional wrinkle.
All in all, this lot of Journey into Mystery issues featuring Thor remains attractive and would make a FINE addition to any Marvel or vintage comic book collection!
