Tobacco tags are one of the smallest forms of advertising known. Since the 1700s there have been literally thousands of brands of tobacco and tin advertising tags to match.

Some tags were just plain metal with embossed print while others were lithographed with colorful names and images. Most tags were attached to the tobacco plug via sharp points. But sometimes small nails were used and these tags can be identified by their nail holes. Though these tags were mass produced I have found no two from the same brand that are exactly alike.
