This auction is for a set of two reproduction prints from the U.S. Patent Drawings for the original William F. Ludwig Twin Spring Speed King Bass Drum Pedal.
These drawings were submitted to the United States Patent office by Walter Hueckstead on November 27, 1936 and the final patent was issued on October 4, 1938.
Illustrated in these drawings are such details as the twin compression springs mounted in the vertical supports and the classic reversible heel plate.
The Speed King was the first blockbuster product from the WFL Drum Company - William F. Ludwig had essentially sold his name to Conn in 1930 and was forced to use only his initials for his new company until he bought back the Ludwig name in 1955. It went on to become the best-selling bass drum pedal in history and remains the benchmark for performance to this day. What more can you say!
There are two separate patent drawings included in this auction and each will be provided on artist quality, acid-free, 60-pound parchment style paper as shown above.
