THE MATERIALS:
This a GICLEE PRINT / REPRODUCTION of the original Loteria painting. The original ACEO / ATC cards were painted with watercolor and waterproof india inks. Overall size of this card is 2.5" X 3.5". Card is signed by the artist and come in a hard plastic protective sleeve for collecting. This Giclee print is printed on 140 aquarelle heavy weight watercolor paper. Paper is fully archival, inks are water resistent and fade resistant. The giclee is INCREDIBLY close to the original - the colors are almost EXACT.
THE THEME:
The theme is the Mexican Bingo Game - Loteria. Eventually there will be FIFTY FOUR original cards altogether. As I make new cards, the originals will be auctioned. Since moving from Canada to the South Bay, California, I've enjoyed learning about Mexican Heritage. Many of the images I've been influenced by end up being incorporated into my artwork. Loteria is fun and whimsical, the imagery it stirs up is very powerful.
ABOUT LOTERIA:
La loteria is an old game of chance played throughout Mexico. It first became popular in the last half of the eighteenth century and although it is rapidly being replaced by modern, electronic games, it is still widely played at festivals, fairs and carnivals. Despite its name La Loteria most resembles a form of bingo using pictures instead of numbers.

ABOUT GICLEE PRINTS:
The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction. The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.
