You are looking at an M1 Carbine handguard 2 rivet. I believe this is correct for an IBM or International Business Machine Carbine because of the deep sighting groove and because the "RMC" is marked vertically on the underside. This handguard was used in early production. It looks like there is a flambing bomb on the underneath side of the handguard also. Please see photo # 4.

This handguard is walnut, USGI. There are no brass pins, no repairs, no cracks. This handguard has not been sanded or refinished.
