Here is a walnut M1 Carbine stock marked RSG in the sling well. There also looks to be an O and an A at the bottom of the sling well. This is a U.S.G.I. low wood stock. There is an SG in a box and a full cross cannon cartouche (95% visible) on the right hand side of the stock. There are no rebuild or inspectors marks on this stock. There is a P proof mark on the pistol grip. There is an escutcheon in the stock and there is no M2 cut. This stock is walnut. According to U.S. Military Markings by Jesse C. Harrison the RSG stands for Saginaw Gear (Saginaw) These stocks were manuafactured by RockOla Music Co, for Saginaw Gear. There are no brass pins, repairs or cracks in this stock. The recoil area and escutcheon area are in excellent condition. There is a little gouging around the barrel band retaining spring area. (see picture #8) There is a chip of wood missing at the oval oiler area. Please see photo # 3. There is also some gouging on the underneath side of the nose of the stock. Please see photo # 12.
