Adapter to fit M42 screw mount lens or accessories to Canon EOS (D)SLR Camera Body

This brand new aluminium adapter will allow you to use M42 mount lenses and macro accessories on Canon EOS cameras.

Includes a rear lens cap to protect your lens when not in use.

The adapter allows* focusing to infinity.

Unlike most similar adapters from other sellers the adapter is suitable for use with all Canon EOS. It will not cause lock up with cameras including 1D and older film cameras because it does not press the mechanical AF switch found on these cameras.

Flange to depress the aperture diaphragm pin found on many M42 lenses to enable manual aperture setting.

WARNING  many adapters sold on eBay do not have this flange so some lens types cannot be stopped down. Without the flange the lens can only be used at maximum aperture

*Please note that with full format cameras (1D, 5D and film) a small number of lens models touch the camera reflex mirror at infinity. Please check panoramaplanet . If your lens is not listed there try a Google  search on it. I am not aware of any problem lenses on 22nmm chip cameras (20D, 450D etc) except as below.

Some Pentax Super Takumar lenses have an aperture lever which will hit the flange so you will need to buy an adapter without the flange. If you need one of these then please contact me. I have them in stock without the flange in plated brass (additional GBP 0.50).

Large lenses - particularly mirror lenses may touch the flash unit on those EOS models with integrated flash units. One solution is to add a M42 teleconverter. These are plentiful on ebay or I can sell you one.

You will need to set focus manually by visual estimate. For the camera focus confirmation lights and beep to operate you need the AF Confirm version of this adapter - see my other auctions .

Waffle
Old mechanical lenses generally have optics every bit as good as their modern equivalents so grab a bargain on eBay then get one of my adapters to use it on your Canon EF mount camera. Manually set the lens aperture as required. Use large apertures for low light or when you want a defocussed background e.g. for a portrait shot. Use small apertures in bright light or if you want a longer exposure for instance to blur an aircraft propeller or the background of a fast moving racing car. Use the camera's Av mode for automatic exposure. You will need to set focus by hand. This takes a little practice as the modern viewfinders are not so easy to judge as the old split focus type. Using smaller apertures considerably increases your margin for error. For reliable pin-sharp focus select an AF Confirm adapter which will activate the focus lights in your viewfinder.
