I had planned to keep this truck for my personal collection, but economy and transfer force sale. This 1972 M814 has only 5768 miles and 860 hours since being completely overhauled by the US Army at Letterkenney Army Depot in 1993. Click here for many additional detailed photos of this truck plus videos of the truck running; there are three full pages of pictures so ensure to go to the bottom of each page and click next to see the next page. This M814 comes with excellent condition 1100x20 tires, a M939 series stainless steel fuel tank, 855 cubic inch naturally aspirated Cummins diesel motor, 5-speed manual transmission, hi/low transfer case, and extremely desirable double frame supporting the 20-foot cargo bed. All mechanical functions work completely as designed. Cosmetically this truck is a 8; both windows need adjustment to go up and down smoothly, the passenger side mirror glass is gone, the driver’s side window has a crack in it, the passenger side window frame has a small area of rust through, the battery platform is bent, the top of the tailgate is bent, the hood has a dent in it, and it needs to be sandblasted, primed, and painted to look excellent. Although I'm always harsh on my descriptions, this truck IS essentially rust-free! The 250 Cummins motor runs well; I replaced the #5 injector and then tuned the entire motor using the valve overlap method. Click here and to see video of the lights working and the motor running. Click here to see video of this truck moving down the highway. This trucks maximum cruising speed is 55 mph. I installed brand new motor oil, oil filter, fuel filter, topped off every fluid level, and greased every grease fitting. I also changed both drivers’ side axle u-bolts as one was broken when I got the truck and you should never re-use u-bolts so I replaced them both. This truck does have a noticeable vibration at approximately 45 mph and above; this vibration exists because all ten tires have a flat spot from sitting so long. (It cost me over $500.00 in diagnostic work from a professional truck repair facility to determine that it is the flat spots in the tires that is without a doubt causing the vibration. The repair facility finally put the entire truck up on a lift to get all tires off of the ground at the same time and you could actually see the flat spots coming around each rotation of the wheels). The flat spots may work themselves out after a few hundred miles or they might never work out; if you're using this truck for logging, farming, or in a quarry you'll never notice the flat spots. In the process of troubleshooting the vibration I found the driveshaft to the rear of the center bearing bent, so I had it replaced; please click here to see photos of the new $450.00 driveshaft. The overhauled and tested frequency inverter, cables, and cable spools shown in the bed of this truck ARE included in this sale; I would estimate that there is over 2000 pounds of high grade copper between the power converter motor and electrical cables and another 1500 pounds of high grade steel between the bed, frequency inverter chassis, and cable spools and holder. I have the SF97 in hand for this truck. This truck is available only to US Citizens who reside in the US. Local pickup in Appleton, WI preferred; shipping is totally the responsibility of the buyer. I will share with the buyer two shipping companies that I routinely use and have had only great success with in shipping these trucks.
