48 Rare Earth
RING Magnets
One lot of 48 RING magnets pictured above.
Magnetic
poles are the circular ends with the open hole.
6mm in Diameter,
6mm Thick, 2.5mm Hole

OD, 0.235" thick, 0.1" Hole]
These rare earth, neodymium-iron-boron RING magnets are new,
and are triple plated with nickel/copper/nickel to prevent corrosion. These small powerful
RING magnets will do an impressive job of holding notes to the fridge.
Using a piece of wire or fishing string, a RING magnet can be held with a knot
on the end and used as a flexible ferrous pick-up tool. One on the end of
a stiff wire can be a fun magnetic pendulum especially with 47 more to arrange
on a piece of sheet metal at the base of the pendulum. Invisible forces
are made visible when the pendulum swings over "pushing" or
"pulling" magnets.
Unlike the more massive rare
earth magnets, these small RING magnets are not prone to chipping or breaking
in general handling situations. The strong pole-to-pole bond will make the
2.5mm holes line up in a stack of these RING magnets but they can be made to
bond on the sides as seen in the image below.

handling strong magnets. The neodymium magnets are brittle and can chip or break
if they are allowed to smack together.
The smacking of magnets can be avoided by sliding them apart as well as sliding
them back together. These magnets are capable of pinching
the skin. You must not get them too close to tapes, wind-up watches, credit
cards, floppy discs, etc.; (2" is a safe distance). Neodymium magnets can cause
permanent damage to older TVs and other electronic equipment; (8" is a safe
distance).
