The talented Ading creates this kelempung from mahogany wood and iron. A wooden sound box resonates the frequency of the small wooden part that is held by a piece of iron on the base box. This traditional Balinese instrument is played by beating it with a bamboo stick that has cotton thread wrapped around the tip. Adorned with lyrical patterns, it is both beautiful and sonorous.

A musician himself, Ading handcrafts the traditional musical instruments of his native Indonesia. He uses rich mahogany, jackfruit wood and bamboo, skillfully eliciting the right tones from each instrument. Stick included.

I have just received my Kalimba "hexagon" which was made by Ading and I wish to thank him and Novica for this melodic instrument sent so quickly. I purchased this for my grandson, and since I have never seen a Kalimba played before, nor heard it in a piece of music, I wonder if Ading could tell us if the metal pieces are pulled up or pushed down, or does it matter? Also, are there any tapes or cd's with Balinese music? I think this would be a good sales feature. Thank you again!
