Lloyd Hawthorne was born in 1925 and died in 2003. I have been asked by his family to sell some of his remaining prints.
Lloyd Hawthorne was a nationally reknown artist who was known for his commercial art and paintings of native landscapes and historical subjects. He was a native of central Louisiana and devoted most of his time and talent to painting the Southern scene, and especially to subjects which are rapidly disappearing. Working in oils, watercolors, and acrylic paints, he endeavored to capture a fleeting moment in the fabric of memories which is cherished as nostalgia.
He was commissioned to do cover illustrations for national publications such as, "THE HUMBER WAY", published by Exxon, and "THE LINER", published by Interstate Oil Pipeline Company. He also designed publications for the Louisiana Baptist Convention and Central Louisiana Electric Company.
Currently, his works are displayed at the Louisiana Governor's Mansion, The R.W. Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport, LA., Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA., Louisiana College in Pineville, LA., and the Alexandria Museum of Art in Alexandria, LA.. His works appear in private collections of art patrons and businesses throughout the United States.
There are 4 limited edition lithographs now available. This auction is for one of those four, "MAILBOX". I have the other 3 also available so check my other auction listings to see them. Time will only enhance the value of these prints.
This print is beautiful. The print size is18" X 24". They are not framed. Mr. Hawthorne died before he was able to sign and number these prints but they are still very collectible.
