| MAINE History JOHN HUBBARD Hallowell BABSON Wiscasset ....
Well, this is an interesting little item here. It is the RULES FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT OF MAINE for 1850. It’s an 8 page booklet, printed on blue paper, with the rules governing the operation of the Executive (Governor’s) Department of Maine. ( Rule number 1: At the time appointed for the meeting of the board, it shall be the duty of the members to be in their places.) John Hubbard of Hallowell was governor at this time. His councilors included John Babson of Wiscasset. There is also a sweet little diagram showing the seating arrangement of the governor and his councilors while at meeting. .....
