***Lots of people have emailed me and claimed that 100,000 rings an hour is a bulls*** made up number. I came up with that number by cutting 16g (0.063") 1/4" ID aluminum rings. There are a little more than 3700 rings per pound. I timed it and in one hour I managed to cut a little over 29 pounds worth of rings. 3700 x 29 = 107,300. Enough rings to make a full chainmail shirt, coif, and mantle. Any more questions? Email me or google "Ringinator".
The Ringinator After extreme frustration with the time it took to cut jump rings by hand using a jewelers saw, I sat down and created this machine. Easy to use for both hobby and professionals alike. A quality piece of craftsmanship that will help you make countless jump rings. This auction is for the regular version of the Ringinator. It is up to the buyer to supply a motor.
This allows you to use any motor you want, and customize the setup any way you want. For some setups we have tried see our site.
How the Ringinator works What the Ringinator does it take these long coils and using a precision saw, slices them right down the center to create individual jump rings with perfectly flush ends.
For optimal cutting different speeds need to be used to cut different metals. To oversimplify the concept, the harder a material, the slower the saw needs to turn. You now have the freedom to saw cut any size ring you want, in any amount, out of any material. Whether you need 50 rings or 50 pounds, you have the option available. No need to custom order odd sizes. No wait on shipping, no surprise Credit Card or shipping fees. And above all, no need to wait! You make as many rings as you need, as soon as you need them. It is fully adjustable for a multitude of sizes. And unlike other hobby systems you may find online, you aren't limited to soft metals like copper or aluminum. Cut even the hardest of Stainless Steel and Titanium. The cutting fixture is fabricated out of thick Aerospace grade Aluminum. The slit for the blade is precision machine milled so it is in the exact center of the groove. The slit is a little larger than 0.030". This leaves ample room around the blade for lubrication and dust removal, yet no room at all for rings to snag.
The guiding grooves themselves are precision planed and positioned. The smallest this guide can hold is 22g wire with a 3/32"ID (total OD = 0.14"). Unmodified, the largest it will cut is coils with a 2" OD. It will cut almost any thickness wire, in any material.
The blade guide accomplishes the job of supporting the blade while it cuts. The arbor will accept blades with a 0.5" (1/2") inner diameter, and minimum 1.5" outer diameter.
If you use a lot of jump rings the Ringinator pays for itself in a very short amount of time. No need to keep large amounts of different sizes on hand anymore. You just need to keep a small amount of wire in stock and your favorite size mandrel. A pound of 20 gauge high quality shiny stainless steel wire can be bought for as low as $10. That same pound in jump rings ordered from a Catalog, Website, or Bead Store, would cost you hundreds. Save money! Comparison of saving by making your own rings, versus buying saw cut equivalent from a large mail-order supplier: Saw Cut Bright Aluminum 16ga 1/4" ID -- US$22.40 -- Save: $15 Niobium - 18 ga 3/16" ID -- US$205.28 -- Save: $60 Saw Cut Jewelers Brass 20ga 1/8" ID -- US$41.60 -- Save: $26 Local bead stores sell jump rings at $0.05 to $0.25 each. That adds up fast. Make just a few pounds of rings and you more than made up the cost of the machine. In addition to the cost savings, you also have the freedom to saw cut any size ring you want, in any amount. Whether you need 50 rings or 50 pounds, you have the option available. And you don't have to wait for items to be shipped, or worry about transit times or unforeseen fees.
