Flash Control
The Mamiya 645AF utilizes automated TTL/OTF flash control with an "X" sync hot shoe and dedicated circuitry and is compatible with the Metz SCA3000 System. With its die-cast aluminum body and film magazine, and magnesium alloy-covered viewfinder, the Mamiya 645AF is an innovative configuration with a revolutionary look for the medium format SLR.
Electronically controlled vertical metal focal-plane shutter with maximum speed of 1/4000 sec.
High flash sync speed of 1/125sec.; TTL direct flash control system to support Metz's SCA3000 module system (SCA3951; Mamiya #211756) Synchronized to displayed speed at slower speeds (when Metz flash is used)
Shutter speeds and aperture values are controlled automatically in 1/8 stop increments in AE mode (30 - 1/4000sec)
Interchangeable film magazines; Standard back accepts 120/220 film; Rotating pressure plate switches between 120 and 220 film. NOTE: Older Mamiya 645 film magazines (non-AF) ARE NOT compatible with this AF system.
Aperture priority, Shutter priority, full Program AE, and Metered Manual modes. Aperture and shutter speeds can both be set in 1/2 step increments.
Emergency shutter curtain opening mechanism (shutter curtain retracts inside camera body when the film back is removed, automatically releases when magazine is attached). This prevents accidental "finger" damage to the curtain when the film back is off. •
Three metering modes: Center-Weighted Average, Spot, and Auto A-S (Variable ratio) which switches between Average and Spot modes depending on the relative contrast within the overall image. Provides exposure settings suited to a wide range of subjects and lighting conditions.
Built-in power winder; single or continuous shooting
All Mamiya 645 manual focus lenses ARE NOT directly compatible with the Mamiya 645 AF. However, they can be used under strict limitations, The non-AF lenses WILL NOT operate the diaphragm and will ONLY operate in stopped-down metering.
Exposure data can be imprinted outside the image area. 7 segment dot matrix; In DATA MODE: exposure mode, aperture value, shutter speed value, exposure compensation, metering mode, ID number: In DAY MODE: year, month, date, time, ID number. Switchable between "enabled" and "disabled"
Data is in the camera body's memory, making it possible to continue the exposure number sequence without a break even when the film magazines are changed
Auto-bracketing function enabled with the Mode Button, exposes three frames consecutively and can be selected in 1/3, 2/3, 1/2 or 1 stop increments
