Up for auction is a very nice copy of Julia Child's third book. It presents a whole new range of dishes. Each of the new master recipes is worked out, step by step. With five times as many drawings as in Volume One, they are demonstrations in themselves. At printing time in 1970, the notes on the back flap state that nearly 700,000 American families owned Volume One. It is signed by Julia in blue on the half-title page.
Unread and apparently never used as a cookbook, the pages are clean with no marks. The jacket is still bright with no fading on the spine or top stain. The front cover has an 1/8 inch tear at the lower right and a small chip at the top right corner. The top of the spine shows a short tear and creasing, and the back panel shows minor soil and some age toning. The jacket is safely enclosed in a mylar wrapper. All in all, this is a very attractive copy.
