Contents: An introductory and comprehensive catalog book of Argentine tinplate toys manufactured between 1934 and 1959 by Matarazzo & Cía, the "The Biggest South American Toy Manufacturer" (as stated in their advertising).
This is the very first edition book ever written on Argentine tinplate toys. It tells the history of Costabile Matarazzo, the youngest brother of the Italian Count Francesco Matarazzo (founder of the biggest Brazilian Holding at the turn of 19th Century) that became the most important Argentine tinplate toy manufacturer.
This pictorial guide offers all the information in one resource. Hundreds of color photographs with detailed descriptions of every item prove to be a valuable tool to date and identify the more and more collectible Matarazzo toys, whose prices are skyrocketing day after day.
It contains motorcycles, racing and sports cars, trucks, fire trucks, ambulances, wreckers, vans, buses and tramways, trains, airplanes, tanks and cannons, pull and musical toys, stoves and kitchenware, novelty toys, sand pails and beach toys, tops and ferris-wheels, noisemakers, penny toys and much more...
In addition, as a special bonus, you will find included a facsimile reproduction of the only known issue of 1938 C. Matarazzo & Cía Catalog (56 extra pages depicting more than 80 toys).
According to the authors: "...Needless to say, many of them reveal a contemporary European source of inspiration that resembles toys manufactured by Distler, Gunthermann, Hornby, INGAP, Märklin, Tipp & Co. among others. […] That is why, for several years now, these Argentine toys and others made all over the world have been displayed in both European and American international shows and auctioneers’ catalogs side by side. They are displayed together with the imported toys that they had "replaced", but that they do not have to envy at all..."
