This piece has been in my grandmother's basement as long as I can remember. I remember she used to give these kinds of things to people with plants in em' for special occasions.
As far as the quality; I can only say it is not in pieces. The glaze on the inside is broken up. Not chipped or rough, just krackled looking. Outside is pretty dang good, for as old as I think it is. And, for the stuff it's been through.
My wife knew more about these things, and was very interested in this piece. Since she's passed, I really would like to see someone else enjoy it.
