This turntable is an MCS model 6601.  MCS turntables were made by Technics and sold at JC Penney.  Direct drive turntables of this sort tend to be good performers and are quite reliable.  This one has been fully serviced and is ready to plug in.  The service description is as follows:  Dusted out chassis, cleaned and deoxidized speed controls, replaced audio cables (gold ends, oxygen free wire), replaced cartridge (new Audio Technica, AT-3600), adjusted arm, cleaned headshell contacts, cosmetic....all functions checked.  If you had simply brought this unit in for service, parts and labor would have been $145.00.  This level of service is the difference between a solid performer and, well....just an old turntable.

The physical condition of this piece is good, it cleaned up well.  The dust cover polished up nicely, and the unit has only moderate scuffs here and there.  It has never been abused.  In order to play this turntable, you need to have a stereo system that includes a "phono" input.  When an outboard phono preamp is used, it may be plugged in to any line level input or into your computer sound card.  The performance and reliability of this turntable will be vastly superior to the cheap and nasty plastic things that are presently being sold.  If you use this one to burn records to cd, they will sound good.
