Poemas de
CLAUDIO SERRA BRUN
combinados con la música de
ENRIC MURILLO
Jaime Millas . Journaliste et écrivain.
THE MEMORY OF THE MIRROR VOLUME II 1998
Poems by CLAUDIO SERRA BRUN (Argentina – Spain) and Music by ENRIC MURILLO (Spain)
Tuesday, June 29th, 1999. The work THE MEMORY OF THE MIRROR - Volume II
will be presented at the Valencia Authors Society Poems: Claudio Serra Brun Music: Enric Murillo Comments: The series THE MEMORY OF THE MIRROR constitutes a new experience within the actual poetic panorama. The union with music provides poetry with the chance of being heard, not read, and this combination adds new and present-day resonances to the poetic message it tries to convey.
The selection of the registry format, compact disc and tape, drifts Claudio Serra Brun’s poems away from the restraints printed paper has; restraints such as its elevated cost and limited diffusion, and at the same time it approaches the work of the poet and the musician, through wide channels of mass diffusion, to a great multitude of listeners from America and Spain who do not read poetry, but who purchase and listen to music frequently with their walkmans, at work or while driving. Thus we offer an option, a parenthesis to today’s youth in their addiction to rock music: they can dispose of the poems and of a few minutes of reflection to think about the topics they embrace.
For an artist, social function is the only thing that matters; all of the other aspects of culture are accessories and therefore denigrate and degrade the artistic work. The artist should not base the projection of its work on institutions, on awards, on subventions, on the very friendly ones, on mundane cocktails. The art work should always have as its main goal the communication with the audience, which is the one and only supporting and defender of the artist’s work. The artistic work comes to life and unrolls naturally in society, communicating it. In a slow spiral that departs from the author and that is divulged through personal circles, it achieves, little by little, their positive judgment and helps combining itself with similar artistic expressions managing to go up the ladder that leads to a wider diffusion of its message, without worrying about the path, since it is this same one that should produce the aesthetic experience and the happiness that produces the interaction with other intellectuals. This, I think, is probable the most important legacy and at the same time the most forgotten one in the centenary of Federico Garcia Lorca: his experience at La Barraca, to travel around Spaniard towns, with a group of theater actors...
Federico, bringing the classic theater to every town and ambassador of the Spanish language in our sister, America, awaking people’s ideal of happiness that art comes with and the thought, a true lesson of freedom: Here you have the master of all artists, the dream of the total artist.
