MICAH CLARKE

 by A. Conan Doyle

Published by A. L. Burt, the book has no publication date, probably 1890 to 1900.   Subtitled “His Statement as made to Micah Clarke's three grandchildren, Joseph, Gervas and Reuben, during the hard winter of 1734, this takes place in Hampshire, England,  403 pages with appendix.   Fine burgundy cloth binding with gilt art nouveau decoration & lettering at spine, 8” tall.

In good condition for its antique age, the wear is:   Shadowing to pages, probably from smoke.   A few chips at edge of title page, front endpaper is loose, chipped, and has a penned name on it.   Front board cracking but still intact.   Handling smears to binding but clean otherwise, gilt at spine dulled, wear to corners, spine ends.

TOC  story about a hard winter's inheritance by the author of Sherlock Holmes!
