Artwork entitled "Creatures," a Sharpie and acrylic paint work on 20" x 16" canvas by MICHA, a Montreal-born artist, actor, and songwriter.
About The Artist:
MICHA Lazare (yes, my sister, and I represent her exclusively), was born and raised in Montreal Canada. She attended a math and science high school and then went on to get her BA in Psychology AND THEN went on to New York City to become an actor. However all the while she was doodling in her notebooks to get through it all. Doodling helped her pay attention, stay focused, and feel creative when often the environment did not provide room for inspiration. Painting came a little later in her life. During her early twenties she finally took to the brush and since then has been struggling to grow in her art and put down her visions on canvas or anything she might find on the street that might be paintable. She is a rat pack and obsessed with the reuse, reduce, recycle motto----so it’s not unusual to find other people’s paintings adorned in her collection. She has recently discovered oil. And although she has fallen in love with oil-- her liveliness, her organic and sultry quality, her sanguinity and flexibility-- she is still learning how to hone her work with oil . Micha is by no means a master of acrylics but she forever learns something new from each painting she does and simply hopes that her work will get clearer and focused with every experience.
Micha is probably most at peace when she finds the flow of her painting...when things that were once so chaotic and ugly suddenly reveal their pathway to beauty and clarity. She describes her experience as “doing a puzzle, putting pieces together but having no idea what the image is”. She often gets frustrated and discouraged, but with patience, openness, and courage, she finds she will, in due time, get over the stagnant humps. Micha finds that doing art is like doing anything, whether it be working out math problems or playing a sport, one has good days and bad days: The good days are good because your maximizing your potential and things seem easy, but the bad days are good too because you are learning about yourself, your limits, your character, your fears, your craft and it usually forces you to look at the work differently---which she believes, is the key to creativity.
Micha would love to sustain herself through her arts....she is in the midst of taking that leap of faith-- To be brave enough to give herself no other choice. She works hard at what she does as long as she loves to do it. So she has made it her goal to do what she loves. She has been commissioned to do book covers, murals, CD covers and paintings for personal collections.
Micha explores all types of styles and techniques so usually one could find something of their taste in her collection. However there are some common themes, such as faces and eyes or little Nudni (a cartoon girl loosely based on her). Her influences range from classical to contemporary, from graphic to graffiti, from organic to geometric.... the list goes on and on. She hopes you enjoy her work!!!!
