FROM THE DUST JACKET:
Mik the caveman,
small and thin,
Had long blond hair
and beardless chin.
But according to the rest of his tribe, Caveman Mik is a nincompoop. The thought of fighting makes him droop, and he hides in a cave whenever danger looms. So it isn't a surprise that the tribe overlooks him when they go in search of a better place to live. Then Mik's fortune turns when he rescues Rumm, a baby mammoth, from an avalanche and they become fast friends. Together they hunt and cook, dabble in cave art, and are quite content -- until the day Mik sees his old tribe in trouble and, along with Rumm, courageously saves the day.
Roy Gerrard's detailed watercolor illustrations and easy-flowing, funny verse will tickle children and delight adults.
Roy Gerrard has written and illustrated many books for children, among them Sir Francis Drake, a New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year, and, most recently, Rosie and the Rustlers, [Seller's note: see my other auctions for this book] which Kirkis Reviews called "enormous fun." Mr. Gerrard lives in England.
