This is a spectacular demonstration of hand craftsmanship - this Gemstone Globe is assembled by hand using many different semi-precious stones / gems from all over the world! Each continent is inlaid from a different stone, and the stones are individually cut and ground to exacting interlocking shapes, polished and set into this exquisite piece of art with care and attention to adjacencies. The elements of the globe are created out of several of these stones: lapis lazule, mother of pearl, amethyst, African jade, tiger's eye, jasper, turquoise, purple quartz, onyx, unakite, abalone and many other beautifully hued stones. The latitude and longitude lines are very thin ribbons of brass, embedded through the globe. Each globe requires ten individual steps to compose, and takes many hours of labor to complete! This miniature Gemstone Globe measures approximately 3" tall, while the globe itself measures approximately 1" in diameter (actually spins on its axis too!). The globe is mounted on a beautiful polished 3-leg gold stand - overall, this is a beautiful work of art!
