Chirashi is the Japanese word for flyer or pamphlet. They are printed as advertisements for the public. In addition to being produced for films they are also used to promote events, museum exhibitions, art gallery shows, etc. They are an extrememly popular collectible in Japan and many other countries around the world.
Chirashi are printed in limited numbers so they can become extremely collectible.
Most movie chirashi measure 7"x10" although they can sometimes be smaller. They are usually a single sheet of paper front and back with one side showing artwork that usually matches the artwork of the larger cinema posters and the other side will have information about that film. Sometimes special chirashi are produced. Some a printed on a heavier paper stock and sometimes multiple-paged chirashi are produced.
