Moral Crux - a strong twenty-five-year-old pop punk band out of Ephrata, WA
It seems only about ten people in the 9 million that populate the nuclear bomb-blasting area of LA took notice, which is a shame.
Politically charged, severely (almost criminally) underrated, they have a very receptive audience touring with the likes of the Queers.

The lead singer's the visual centerpiece, jumping, creeping, swinging around, but strangely, I just kept on looking at his hands. His skin was the color of natural toothpaste, almost albino, but his hands became more and more pink as the set progressed, like he was soaking them in hot, hot water doing dishes, instead of playing in a band. What I also noticed was the bassist was phenomenal, transforming a rather simple rhythm section into a fell webbing of sound that was fuller and more satisfying than ass-simple pop-punk.

Punk-pop legend outfit Moral Crux is another rollicking rock band with a musical and political outlet that resembles the intensity of the Queers. Having played to SoCal crowds and surroudings punk pockets since the early '90s, Moral Crux built themselves a name and landed a deal with Lookout!, the label that brought Green Day, Rancid, and the Donnas to the mainstream. Something More Dangerous was issued in fall 1999 and Side Effects of Thinking followed a year later. I Was a Teenage Teenager and And Nothing But the Truth were both issued on.

Some how the Punk scene had overlooked the brilliant Moral Crux until a few years ago. Their earlier albums suffered due to incredibly bad distribution. Well that's no longer the case, thanks to the release of their new album on the Lookout Records Distributed Panic Button Label, Moral Crux has been able to get the majority of their back catalog re-release and distributed properly this time. "The Side Effect Of Thinking" was originally released by Polemic Records and was their strongest release at that point. James T. Farris X's lyrics are biting social commentary set to Vibrators/Buzzcocks/SLF style punk-pop. In a genre stereo typed as being nothing but "songs about girls" Moral Crux show us that some people in the scene still have something important to say.
