For an extreme metal act with false ears and nose, Mortiis has developed an acute perception of what dance-oriented Goths want to hear when they leave their coffins for an evening's clubbing. This collection of rarities is an intriguing glimpse into the Norwegian metal star's transition from dark ambient experimentalism to his latter-day attention-grabbing electro-metal pieces, featuring a variety of synthesizer and bubbling keyboard-accompanied tracks underpinning subterranean vocals.

 I've lost track of the amount of Mortiis recordings, but this album is certainly the most mature of all the electronic, atmospheric-held creations of the ex-Emperor musician.

Mortiis has a particular style of presenting his music which allows the listener a certain predictability, but as long as the atmospheres he creates work, this shouldn't be the point.
