Hi, I am Roland LaVallee a woodcarver from Eastport, Maine. I finished this painted wood burning piece titled “ Green Snake Dreams" on Feb. 27, 2008.  I have been making and selling art in this town since 1983 and have a studio gallery called CROW TRACKS where I sell my work during the tourist season. The size of this piece is about 14 inches by about 9 1/4 inches. I should explain that this is all one piece of wood. I start with a piece of white pine trim board the size I desire, and then I measure in one inch from the edges and carve in the frame. Next I sketch my image with pencil and burn it in with a wood burning tool. The piece is then sealed and painted with non-toxic acrylics and sealed again. A mounting wire is attached on the back. I always burn in my signature and the date created on my artworks. Each of these pieces represents one full day of work to make.
