You are  bidding on a fabulous Estate Sale Find! This old, Majolica German Butter/Cheese Keeper is simply wonderful with a touch of whimsy! The entire piece is done in colors of rich gold, greens and brown. The lid which depicts a free standing cow, grazing on a plush field of "grass" even has a fence design behind the figure. Both the lid and base have textural raised elements which add to its interest and exhibit its top notch German workmanship!

On the very back of base, just below the rim, is the smallest of chips, almost a flake. Can easily be touched up but personally, I would just leave as is because of its insignificance. Most crucial of all the horns, ears and entire cow are MINT! It is very difficult to find one of these pieces where the cow is intact. Rest of piece is PERFECT!

Nice wear and age to bottom rim under the base. I thought I would have fun with this piece and list with no reserve. This is a great edition to any Majolica Collection or Butter/Cheese Keeper Collection!
