Pottery item is made by the famous Bordallo
Pinheiro pottery factory in Portugal. The piece
is marked with the famous frog and brand name.
Bordallo Pinheiro takes its name from the famous
artist Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro (1846-1905).
His most
widely known designs include cabbages and other
vegetables, fruits, shellfish, animals and florals.
Pinheiro
potteries was established in Caldas da Rainha
(meaning "The Queen's Bath"), a small spa town
sixty miles north of Lisbon, that traces its
pottery tradition and high quality back to ancient
times.
