Authentic original pinback from 1934 campaign for the National Foundation For Infantile Paralysis Inc...The March of Dimes. It is in excellent condition. Part of it reads, "Celebrate Our president's Diamnd Jubilee Birthday...Join the March of Dimes"
Also is a second item, the Lung Assoc. double bar cross (also known as the Cross of Lorraine) associated with Christmas Seals since 1902. Both in excellent condition.
During his presidency, Franklin Roosevelt used his birthday as a fund raiser to benefit the March of Dimes, which FDR founded as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis as polio was then known. Starting on January 30, 1934, Americans all across the country joined together to hold Birthday Balls as a way to raise money for the fight against polio.
