This Book Is In Good Condition Both Outside And Inside. It is Bound In Full Black Leather With Gold Borders And Gold Lettering On The Cover. The Book Measures 8 By 13 Inches And Contains 480 Pages Of Text Delineating The History Of Torture And Martyrdom As Well As Dozens Of Illustrations Depicting A Variety Of Torture Methods. The Title Page, Which Is Hand-Printed, States "Printed For The Author - 1677". The Front Endsheet, Of Which Part Is Missing, Contains The Handwritten Statement, "This Book Was Printed 1677. It Is The Largest Book Edition Of The Work Published During The Author's Lifetime". The Leather Binding Appears To Be More Modern Than The Text Of The Book, But Is Of A Style, Quality, And Workmanship Worthy Of Such An Old Volume. The Leather Is In Good Condition, With A Few Small Scrapes On The Surface. This Book Is An Important Piece of History. Besides Being Itself Over Three Hundred Years Old, It Also Captures In Words And Illustrations A Piece Of Our Past Which Many Would Prefer To Be Forgotten. It Is A Rare Volume Which Hardly Ever Appears For Public Sale. Many Copies Were Destroyed After Publication By Those Who Felt It To Be Unflattering To The Church. Of The Few Remaining Copies, Most Reside In Museums And Private Collections. Printings Of This Age Rarely Become Available.
