To this day no one has even attempted to duplicate his amazing (and dangerous) 1,000 mile round trip dash over the arctic ocean to the Pole and back to land.
This image only appears in the book Matthew Henson wrote himself; A Negro Explorer at The North Pole—a classic in explorer literature. Henson later met Bradley Robinson and together they wrote his full biography Dark Companion. Now author Bradley Robinson's son has restored both books and republished them. He also created this colorized version of Matt that reveals the details of his face and tone of his caribou parka.
