This is a truly gorgeous (looking and sounding) guitar. The figure on the Madagascar Rosewood is especially spectacular. Madagascar Rosewood is also becoming increasingly rare, which I expect will continue to increase it's price. That, combined with McPherson's increasing prices, should cause this guitar's value to continue to appreciate.

"Finally, from the rosewood category, there is Madagascar rosewood. Little can be said about it that hasn't already been said about Brazilian rosewood! Visually, it is a dead-ringer for Brazilian, though in general it is more red or rust colored. The main differences are that Madagascar rosewood is not illegal to import, it is far less expensive, and a little lighter in weight. More than a few builders claim that the lower weight bestows an additional sonic liveliness that surpasses Brazilian rosewood -and indeed, most other tonewoods. The tap tone of this wood has a noticeably strong, sustaining quality. "

The MadRose and Redwood tonewood combination is one I've found to be very dynamic, responsive and full of harmonics and overtones. A truly excellent combination for fingerstyle yet also great for flat-picking.
Redwood: "Rare and beautiful, Redwood is tonally warm, rich and complex. Responds dynamically to a light touch. A phenomenal choice for fingerstyle. It is darker than Red Cedar with a reddish hue."

I am selling this guitar because I've recently ordered and received another custom, hand-built acoustic guitar (also redwood topped) that will take on the McPherson's role in my studio. This studio (pictured on right ~>) is smoke/kid/pet-free & humidity controlled (RMH @ 50% +/-5). I take absolute care and pride of ownership in all my instruments.

If you are in the market for a McPherson this is your chance to get a stellar and rare model in mint condition for 20%+ less than new cost.

I appreciate how difficult/stressful it can be to purchase a guitar without experiencing it in person first.  If anyone is interested and able to come in person to the Portland, Oregon area I would be happy to arrange a meeting.  I would prefer that actually (no shipping costs/risks too!).  But it's not always possible to travel so I'll do my best to provide as much detail as possible so that everyone can make an informed bid.  Below are twenty images I took on 10/31/2009.  Please click the thumbnails for full resolution images.  When I say "no scratches, scuffs nor dings", I mean it literally.   Please feel free to request any additional images.  I'll also be posting an audio/video demo and update this auction with a link shortly.

This is a quick improv demo I recorded 11/10/09.  Youtube HD (720p) format.  No eq, compression nor reverb (I did a quick mute early to verify no verb, that sustain is au naturel).  McPherson has many (much better) samples on their website, but I wanted to demonstrate how lush the tone is on my model even "in the raw".
