Antique Medieval Breviary Folio on Vellum (a) This is a rare original medieval calligraphic folio (leaf) from a Breviary written on animal vellum, French, 15th century. The calligraphy is executed in black, highlighted with red and blue inks. II. Antique Medieval Breviary Folio on Vellum 1. The folio is professionally mounted on a heavy mat, and is ready for framing. III. Antique Medieval Breviary Folio on Vellum 1. The front and back have colored lettering and designs. Each Breviary is unique, and, each is written and decorated by hand with different motifs. They contain a collection of prayers, psalms, illustrated and are referred to by bishops, priests, and deacons for use in Catholic Christian worship. This one has 28 lines of text in two columns per page. IV. Antique Medieval Breviary Folio on Vellum 1. The vellum is extremely thin and delicate. The folio is in excellent condition. There are three strips of mounting tape on the back, at the top, and later penciled numbers on back. V. Antique Medieval Breviary Folio on Vellum 1.
