| Meerschaum Pipe, "Uncle Sam Wants You", Medium Size, Vintage - This meerschaum pipe was individually hand carved from high quality Eskisehir block meerschaum & comes in a custom made fitted wooden box. This is the artwork style pipe - the artwork is very detailed & this pipe is the medium size - 5 5/8" length, 2 1/4" height, 3/4" chamber width, 1" chamber depth. The stem is the sherlock style (curved) & is black. Penned on the bottom of the base is "TL, 2-76". This is a one-of-a-kind pipe that was made in Feb. 1976. It has only been used twice - it is in excellent condition, no scratches, no mars, no breaks. Comes in the original factory fitted wooden box that was made for it. Meerschaum is a very rare mineral, a kind of hard white clay. Light and porous structure of the pipe keeps the smoke cool and soft. The pipe itself is a natural filter which absorbs the nicotine. Because of this peculiarity, meerschaum pipes slowly change their colors to different tones of gold and dark brown. This adds an esthetic enjoyment to its great smoking pleasure. The longer a pipe is smoked the more valuable it becomes due to the color change. Today many old and rare meerschaums have found a permanent place in museums and private collections. These pipes are made of high quality Eskisehir meerschaum which is very well known by experts. Unlike briar, meerschaum does not burn.
