Ein neuer original Kugelbolzen für die Ventileinstellung am Mercedes-Benz Benzinmotor M121 in den 190SL (W121).  Zustand tadellos.  Konserviert.

Teilenummer:  A180 055 07 74 bzw. A180 050 05 74.

Abmessungen: 

Gesamtlänge: 48,5mm 

Gewinde- und Kugeldurchmesser:  12mm

Sechskant für SW 14mm

Bei Wartungsarbeiten am Motor sollte das Ventilspiel regelmässig kontrolliert werden.  Dieser Vorgang ist in Werkstattunterlagen beschrieben.

Der Kugelbolzen dient als Einstellschraube um das Ventilspiel zu vergrössern oder verringen.  Hineinschrauben vergrössert das Spiel, Herausschrauben verringert es.  Das Einstelldrehmoment der Schraube soll 20-40 Nm betragen.

Liegt das Drehmoment der Einstellschraube unter dem Minimalwert, muss der Kugelbolzen allein oder zusammen mit der darunter befindlichen Gewindebuchse ersetzt werden . 

Es kann auch sein, dass die geforderte Einstellung des Ventilspiels nicht erreicht wird.  Dann muss auch das zwischen Schwinghebel und Ventil sitzende Druckstück erneuert werden.  Solche Drückstücke gibt es in verschiedenen Stärken (auch in unser eBay Shop vorhanden).

A new, genuine Mercedes-Benz ball head stud for the valve adjustment on the M121 four cylinder gas engines as fitted to the Mercedes-Benz 190SL.  

Part number: A180 055 07 74 and A180 050 05 74.  

Dimensions:

Overall length:  48,5mm;  ball and thread diameter: 12mm;  hexagon head for wrench  size 14mm.

Covered in a protective wax coating.

When servicing the engine, it is always advisable to check the valve clearances.  If the valve clearances require adjustment, the ball head stud is screwed either in or out using a crow-foot wrench (also available in our eBay Shop).  This allows the clearance between the camshaft and the rocker arm to be adjusted.

Since the stud has an interference fit with the threaded base, the ball head stud should turn stiffly when adjusting the valve clearances.  This stiffness prevents the ball pin from inadvertently rotating and altering the valve clearance whilst the engine is running.  If less than 2 mkg (14.5 ft.lbs) torque is required to turn the ball head stud, the stud and/or the threaded base should be replaced. They have become worn due to previous adjustments.

To increase the valve clearance between the base circle of the camshaft and the rocker arm, the ball head stud is turned in clockwise and conversely to decrease the valve clearance the stud is turned out counter-clockwise.

Note that if the adjuster stud bottoms out before the minium clearance is acheived, the plate in the top of the valve spring keeper can be replaced by a thinner piece.  These plates are also available in our eBay shop.
