Merit Megatouch XL or Maxx 13" Picture Tube - Bright!

Megatouch monitor not looking so good?  It happens.  Frequently, the cause is a bad cap (or caps), but occasionally, it's the picture tube.  Many Megatouch games have a vibrant monitor, but, unfortunately, many don't.  There can be many reasons for this, but I can probably tell you if the problem is your tube or your chassis. 

There are 4 different kinds of monitors that were used in the Megatouch games.  They are..

Tatung

WG

Telcovision

Ducksan

The first 2 VERY RARELY have failed tubes.  In fact, I can only remember seeing 1 bad Tatung 13" tube in my life.  I've seen a bunch of bad WGs, but probably 9 out of 10 still look great.  However, I do see quite a few bad Telco and Ducksan picture tubes.  Due to the poor design of the monitors, the tubes in these fail quite frequently.  And if you've got a bad tube, the picture is going to look bad no matter what you do.

So here's what I've got.  A used, but tested and guaranteed, Picture tube. This tube is compatable with ALL 13" Monitors that were originally sold in the VGA Merit games.  This includes the XL and the Maxx games.  If you have a Megatouch with a CGA monitor (Megatouch 3 through Megatouch 7), and the monitor isn't good, throw it away. It's not worth your time, and I don't have the parts.  Sorry. 

But if you've got an XL or a Maxx, and you've got a bad tube, this is what you need.  Now, if you don't know how to install this, you probably shouldn't bother purchasing it.  You'll have to yank your touchscreen off the old tube, disassamble the monitor, and install the new tube. After doing this, you'll have to adjust the RGB pots on the neckboard, as well as the brightness, contrast, H & V sizes and positions, and probably the screen and the focus on the flyback.  If you don't know what everything I just named is, please don't purchase this tube.  You'll be wasting your time and money.  I've used these tubes with Telco and Ducksan monitors, and they work great.  No convergence adjustment should be necessary, although, the purity rings may need to be adjusted slightly. 

But this tube will make your monitor look new again!

Shipping: This thing weighs 23 lbs. I've shipped a bunch, and I've never had one broken.  But be careful taking it out of the box!  This item will be shipped via UPS Ground to the continental 48.  I am now using UPS Ground for most of my shipments.  If you want it faster, or live outside the 48, let me know, and I'll give you a total.
