Mesquite Wood chunks/chips smoker smoking BBQ Grill 9#+

These are chips/chunks about fist-sized and smaller of South Texas Mesquite that add a very nice flavor to the food in your Barbeque (Barbecue), Grill, or Smoker.  I put four or six of these pieces around outside of the lava rocks in my Propane gas fired grill, and when I'm done cooking, I toss them into a pan of water so they stop smoking and I can use them next time. I fit these chunks into a Flat-Rate Priority Mail Box that measures 11 7/8 X 3 3/8 X 13 5/8", and this can be shipped anywhere in the United States for $10.35 regardless of weight.  This box, when packed tight for shipment usually weighs between ten and twelve pounds, depending on the density and dryness of the wood.  Right now, we are in a drought condition, and the wood is very dry, but as stated in the item description line, you will receive at least nine pounds of Mesquite Chunks/Chips.  If you need smaller pieces for your smoker pan, just use a small hatchet and chop them to whatever size works best for you.  The wood splits very easy.  (After chopping on my thumbnail a few times, I have learned to hold the small piece being split with a 8" long flat board, and not my the fingers of my left hand.)
This mesquite wood has not been herbicided or sprayed so it is just natural wood.  I've used a hatchet to remove the lighter colored sapwood and bark, leaving sweet smelling heartwood.  We really like the flavor this wood imparts to the meat in the BBQ, and use the wood every time we cook outside.  Smells really good!

I saw a recent show on public television called BBQ University, where the guy was cooking a turkey over a charcoal grill, (might have been propane because it ran for several hours?) and the ends of the grill had little flaps that you could lift up and toss in a few pieces of wood for smoke flavor!  All the bark and scraps from the "chopping to size for the flat rate box" are used in my woodgas cook stove.  The mesquite gives a much longer and hotter fire than pieces of basswood or other soft wood.  As soon as I'm done cooking, I dump the fuel into a bucket of water, and save the charcoal for future use.
