Michael Jackson Signed 1952 Gibson Les Paul Tito Played

1952 Gibson Les Paul - Owned and played by Tito Jackson at the Jackson Family Awards!

Tito Jackson played this 1952 Gibson Les Paul at the 1994 Jackson Family Honors where Michael Jackson presented the Family Honors Award to Elizabeth Taylor! This guitar was signed by, Tito Jackson, Marlon Jackson, Jackie Jackson, Jermaine Jackson, Randy Jackson and also MICHAEL JACKSON! Michael signed the pickguard. The signatures were all done in red ink and have faded over the years. I will include the photo that was taken not too long after it was first signed were you can see all of the signatures clearly. Also included are photos taken recently under a black light, so you can see that the signatures still exist. Also included are the tickets to the 1994 Jackson Family honors as well as the laminated backstage pass, and the invitation! The cool blue lense glasses that Tito wore on stage that night are also included.

Gibson started making the Les Paul gold top in 1952. They started making the Les Paul Black Beauty Custom in 1954. I have owned many 1952 Les Pauls and I am positive this is a 1952. It does not look like one, because as stated in the auction the pickups, tail piece and bridge are changed. It originally had a trapese tail piece, there is evidence of this tail piece due to holes at the butt of the guitar, also if you remove the pickups, you can see the original pickup routes from the original alnico and P90 style pickups. The headstock logo position and the style is that of a 1952 or 53 Les Paul. I bought this from a good friend of Tito Jackson, he attended the Jackson Family awards and personally had all of the Jacksons sign it. I can provide a letter of authenticity from him proving that. The invitation is his, the one he used to attend. If you have a serious interest in purchaing the guitar, I will provide additional photos to show proof that it is a 1952 or 53 Les Paul. Michael signed the pickguard, and after that his signature has mostly been warn off from playing it!

After Tito played it, I installed vintage reissue Gibson Kluson tuning keys, but I do have and will include the Grover Tuning keys that were on the guitar when Tito Played it. Also note, this 1952 Gibson Les Paul now has reissue Gibson 57 reissue pickups, and the neck has a repair. This guitar also originally had a trapese tail piece. It was converted to a Stop Tailpiece and tunamatic bridge for better performance. It was this way when Tito Played it and the work was done prior to him playing it.

Someone asked how I came to this value:

First of all a Epiphone SG guitar signed by Michael Jackson that he also wrote "Thriller" on sold for $125,000 on Ebay just after he died. OK, that is a guitar worth $200.00 normally. My guitar was owned by Tito Jackson, played by Tito Jackson and played at the Jackson Family honors, all of the Jackson 5 signed it, I have documentation. There is also video of Tito playing it and photos of Tito playing it, plus the glasses he wore. I also sold Eddie Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher Guitar" for $225,000. So I know its possible to get that kind of money out of celebrity guitars. This guitar without anything to do with the Jacksons is worth $15,000 plus, just being a 1952 Gibson Les Paul. Anyhow, if you a really an interested buyer, make a serious offer and I will consider it, if not, I am happy owning this guitar. Someone someday will pay good money for it, there is a buyer for everything, so I have found in by 20 plus years dealing in Vintage and collectible guitars.
