The MidAtlantic Trailblazer - A GPS Trail Guide
This book is my first published work. From 1995 to 1998 it sold over 35,000 copies.... not bad for a self-published book.
This first edition is currently out of print, and we have 30 copies left. This book is a classic, because it was the FIRST hiking and camping guidebook ever written that used the Global Positioning System to guide the reader down trails, to campsites and historical markers, and into remote areas of wilderness.
The book was originally published by Telson Communications, Inc. (which is now TelsonUSA), and was printed by Rose Printing Company of Talahassee, Florida.
Featuring hand-painted covers (done by a friend with Corel's "Paint" program), 7" x 10" full color covers, and acid-free paper, perfect bound, lay-flat binding, the book has become a much sought-after collector's item.
Originally priced at $35.00, this book was in demand as far away as Australia, even though the camping / hiking trips were limited to New York and New Jersey, and part of Pennsylvania. The reason for the overseas demand was its excellent technical section, which taught the reader how to navigate using GPS receivers, and how to modify them for increased performance. Also included in the book are several trail recipes, and a section on Murphy's Laws, Proverbs and Old Sayings, and other things that made the book a BLAST to read around a campfire.
I have 30 of the ORIGINAL books left. They are being sold elsewhere WITH MY AUTOGRAPH on my Web site for $100.00 each. Get an AUTOGRAPHED COPY of THE FIRST GPS trail guidebook ever published - while they last.
