This was and remains a popular book for anyone interested in optical mineralogy and the use of a polarizing petrographic microscope. Unlike some reference books, it does not include a section on identification characteristics of the common minerals. Instead it concentrates on methodology, and if you have a classical pol scope from the 1960s it quite possibly illustrates your model. Several chapters describe how to use a universal stage, which is a rare source of such instruction.There is one colored plate, a fold out chart of interference colors.

The book is in fairly good used condition with solid clean covers, but with names blacked out on the inside page and yellow highlighting over sections of the first few chapters. If you are not satisfied, return it in the same condition for a refund of your purchase price (not shipping). As always, local pickup is free.
