For sale here is an extremely unusual miniature New Hampshire Mirror clock which stands just 26" tall and is 13" across. It has a miniature brass weight driven time piece movement and the backboard is imprinted "Donnell". There is on record a clock maker by this name in the Bath, Maine area in the 1820s-30s. The clock was presumably made by him. The reverse painted tablet is original with some losses and the gold surrounding the dial aperture has been strengthened. The movement is held in place by a through bolt to the backboard. The case appears to have been re-decorated a very long time ago, and the original wooden dial has been crudely renumbered and/or strengthened. Original hands. Not perfect, but very funky, cute, tiny and really unusual. Shipping costs to be determined by professional packaging store. I have sold top line clocks on ebay. please check feedback record. refund in full if not happy with the clock as long as clock is in same condition as it was sold. Additional photos can be emailed. Please ask questions prior to end of sale. Additional notes; This clock relates to a small group of Maine clockmakers who were very low production outfits on the fringe of the more populated areas in the early 1800's. I would place Donnell with makers such as John Taber and the Brackett brothers, except he is more obscure. These makers often created their own versions of standard case and movement styles, often making miniature versions such as Taber's pillar and scrolls and Brackett's dwarf tall case clocks, and now Donnell's mirror clock. An ebayer asked about the partial label on the backboard. I had assumed it to be a repair label, but on closer examination I think it is possibly a maker's label. It appears that the three letters that remain are the beginning of the name "Arthur".
