This is the rare and hard to find original Minolta APO teleconverter, not the more common II version. Optically the two items are identical but II version slows down the lens focusing speed while this version does not.

Minolta recommends that the original APO teleconverters not be used with the newer High Speed lenses. Following Minolta's recommendation, I also recommend that the APO teleconverters be used only with their matching APO lenses: the non-HS versions of the 200/2.8, 300/2.8, and 600/4.

However, some users have reported that higher-end Sony DSLRs are able to lock focus fairly quickly with High Speed lenses and these teleconverters. This is most likely to be the case if the maximum aperture of the lens+TC is f5.6 or faster. Maximum apertures smaller than f5.6 are more likely to cause focus hunting, especially in low light.

This teleconverter is in Excellent condition. The optics are clean and clear, free of haze, fungus, and scratches. The teleconverter functions perfectly. The cosmetics are also Excellent with only a few minor cosmetic marks in the white barrel paint.

USA: In my experience US Customs almost never charges duty on used lenses sent from Japan. Official duty is 2.6%. (I have sent well over 500 lenses to the USA and to my knowledge only one customer has been charged duty.)

Other Countries: Tax and duty rates vary from country to country. Please ask me if you have concerns, often I know roughly what you can expect. Of course I will do everything possible to make sure the lens passes smoothly through customs!
