Here's an extraordinarly beautiful, perfectly working Edison Standard cylinder phonograph. It's a desirable model "D," manufactured around 1910 and equipped with factory combination gearing, enabling it to play virtually any type of cylinder ever made -- 2 or 4 minute, wax or celluloid, Gold-Moulded or Blue Amberol. It comes with 2 reproducers (H & C) so that it will be ready to play just about any cylinder you want to hear as soon as it arrives. I'll include 2 Gold Moulded cylinders and 2 Blue Amberol cylinders, but 100's of others are available on ebay and elsewhere.
Condition of this phonograph is exquisite throughout. By even the most stringent measure, it's a superb example, with a nearly flawless original cabinet decal (just two small nicks, both in the E), an original finish that's still perfectly preserved, factory pinstriping on the bedplate that's better than 90%, an "Edison Trademark" signature on the bedplate that's essentially perfect, beautiful nickel plating on the mandrel and both reproducers, cabinet fittings that are some of the cleanest I've ever seen, all four original feet on the underside of the base, a hearty motor that will still play several cylinders with just single winding, 2/4 minute gearing that switches quickly and properly...the list goes on and on.
Cabinet is beautiful, with a factory finish throughout and no damaged corners, no splintered wood, no veneer issues on the lid. Silky smooth shellac that's a century old and will probably last a few more centuries (or more) if its properly cared for. The original change of reproducers instruction sheet is still present on the inside of the lid, and is wholly intact and close to perfect. Original factory chalk mark is also present (this was used to match the lids to the bases, so the graining was the same).
The horn is as clean as the machine. It's a perfectly rendered reproduction of the original, and it's in superb condition, with virtually no paint wear and a beautiful polished brass bell. Needless to say, the phonograph plays great and sounds great and will enthrall you when you see its cylinders spinning on the mandrel and hear voices from more than century ago filling your living room or den with sound. Indeed, if you're looking for a museum quality example of an Edison Standard phonograph (or any cylinder phonograph for that matter) you've just found it.
I will carefully prep everything for shipping and pack everything carefully and properly. If you're not already familiar with how to operate an early cylinder phonograph, don't worry. I'll provide you with simple, easy to understand set-up instructions, so you'll be able to use this wonderful machine and horn within minutes after you unpack it. Buyer prepays and includes shipping.
