This is a specialty cable, with stereo plug on one end, and then two mono output plugs on the far ends of the dual cables, but they're not ordinary cables at all. We manufacture these ourselves at the Mobius Megatar factory shop. The key is the cable itself. For the highest possible quality, we import Canara GS-6 cable from Japan. This oxygen-free cable is resistant to deterioration, to avoid the signal loss that is common with ordinary cables.

CANARA CABLE FROM JAPAN
Cables are twelve feet in length. Model GS-6 Guitar/Instrument cabling is ultra-flexible with oxygen-free conductor and shield. (Woven shield to prevent radio-frequency signal interference.) The stranded center conductor in Coaxial construction maintains its flexibility even in the cold, and offers reduced 'instrument movement' noise. Design features low capacitance and resistance for unfiltered and smooth signal transmission from your instrument to the amp.

Your amplifier -- no matter how good it is -- can only play what the amplifier can hear! If your amp can hear better, then your amp has a better signal to amplify. A low-loss transmission cable brings out the best in a top-end amp, and even lets your low-end or practice amp do the best job it can. You can hear the difference.

SPECIALTY OUTPUT CABLE FOR TWO-HANDED TAPPERS
We engineered this output cable especially for use with specialty "Touch-Style" instruments. (For more information about the "touch-style" method, see box below.) When playing an instrument by touch, using the two-handed touch-style technique, one normally plays gently with the fingers, and turns up the amp so that you can generate greater sensitivity and musical dynamics with finger pressure.

In the case of touch-style play, getting the (relatively soft and fragile) signal of passive pickups to your amp with the signal intact becomes quite important. And if you have an instrument with active circuits, then transmitting the full richness that actives can deliver brings out the best possible sound for your musical expresion.

Of course, if you play a guitar or bass which has a stereo output jack, you too will benefit by having the best possible signal arriving at your amplifier or effects rack.

Because these cables are intended for touch-style play -- where typically you have one output from the 'bass' strings and a separate output from the 'melody' strings, the quality construction minimizes cross-talk, and the contrasting colors are a convenience to make clear which signal is bass, and which is melody.

To match the exquisite transmission qualities of Canara Cable, we sought out the best possible connectors, and for this purpose, we import Neutrik connectors, made in Germany. German manufacturing has long been known for precision design, and these connectors are truly the Mercedes of phono plugs.

The 1/4" male plugs are housed in shielded metal housings that fasten securely, with an internal strain relief where cable meets plug, and an external rubberized strain relief where the cable exits, to prevent any compromise to the cable itself. Hardy and well-built, you'll never worry about these hefty connectors. The polished nickel connector pins themselves are tarnish resistant to give great signal contact, year after year after year.

At the instrument end you will find a stereo 1/4" male jack, using output wiring compatible with the convention used in Chapman Stick and Mobius Megatar touchstyle instruments. The cable length is 3.7 meters (12 feet) -- slightly longer than most other stereo cables -- and the two separate output cables end in two mono 1/4" standard male guitar jacks.

Because touch-style instruments normally produce separate signals for bass strings and for melody strings, the stereo-to-two-mono scheme is an ideal method for transmitting the musical signal from your instrument to your amplifyier(s). (Normally, basses and guitars are amplified differently, to bring out the best from the bass strings or the guitar strings.) Because the two mono cords are 3.7 meters long, you can easily amplify your specialty instrument using two separate amplifiers (or effects racks), even if these are spaced 6-8 meters apart!

Of course, this quality cable can also be used in audio applications where a better-quality stereo-to-two-mono cord may be required, but the Mobius Guarantee is specifically offered for use with compatible "touch-style" instruments, which include the Chapman Stick and the Mobius Megatar.
