This is a balsa wood model of the "Woban Class" tugboat USS HOGA (YT-146). This is one of the surviving Navy ships from the Pearl Harbor attack on 7 December 1941. The model is 9.4 inches long when completed. The kit, by JAC Models, includes drawings, construction notes, painting guide, and marking to glue onto the model, and sheets of laser cut balsa wood for the "lift" or "bread and butter" method of consturction. The construction is hand made and consists of removing images from laser cut balsa wood sheets. The images are the "lifts" that form the hull, cabin, and pilot house which are stacked together to form the shapes. Cutting, trimming and sandpapering are necessary to prepare the pieces for painting. This model is for young and older model builders. The drawings are designed for a scratch built model; i.e, no manufactured parts. Glue and paint are not included. Scale is 3/32" = 1' (1 : 128) |
