This is a balsa wood model kit of a World War II Liberty Ship made in USA by JAC Models. The model is 13.8 inches long when completed. The scale is 1 /32 " = 1' (ratio 1: 384) The kit includes drawings, bill of material, construction notes, painting guide, markings to glue onto model and a write-up about the Liberty Ships. Balsa wood sheets are included with images to cut out from the sheets. The images are the "lifts" or "Bread and Butter" method of consturction. The construction is hand made and consists of removing laser cut images from the balsa wood sheets. The "lifts" form the hull, cabins and pilot house when stacked together to form the pieces. Cutting and triming and sandpapering are necessary to prepare the pieces for painting. The drawings are designed for a scratch built model, i.e., no manufactured parts. Glue and paint are not included.. Whoever wins the bid can email me with the name of the ship of his or her choice.or the kit will be of the S.S. Martin Johnson. Over 2500 Liberty Ships were built during World War II. These ships carried all kinds of cargo to support military actions in all theaters of the war. This seagoung action strongly contributed to winning the war. Liberty Ships made a signficant contribution to maritime history. This model in your home or office would be a constant reminder of this page in history. |
