Mont Blanc FRIEDERICH II Limited Edition

Mont Blanc created the Friederich II Limited Edition pen in 1999 in an edition of 4810 pens. This is pen number 1549, with a Medium nib. Just as extraordinary as this Prussian king is the Patron of Art Edition Friedrich II the Great, crafted in his honor. The gold-plated barrel of Edition 4810 is decorated by two rings embellished with a pattern of curves. These, like the elegant clip, are also gold plated. The pen has an 18-karat gold nib, which carries an engraving of the royal monogram of “Fredericus Rex”. An ingenious mechanism enables the pen to be screwed back into the barrel to protect it. (For you old-timers, this is basically a safety pen.)  This pen is Mint in Box and has never been dipped nor inked. It is guaranteed to be a 100% authentic Mont Blanc!!

A man of culture, who wrote poetry in Italian, Friedrich had an alert and open mind, and was avidly interested in the scientific knowledge of his day. He was particularly attentive to natural history, and is the author of a notable treatise on falconry, which contains much accurate observation and was reprinted as recently as 1942.  He exhibited religious tolerance at his court, and employed Saracens in his army, although, like many other rulers of his time, he saw to it that religious Christian orthodoxy was maintained in his states.
